Today, I’m sharing three super cute Christmas handprint crafts that you can make with your toddler (or any child, really).

These crafts are perfect for capturing those tiny hands and turning them into adorable keepsakes.

The process is really simple, and we had so much fun doing it together. I used a sponge to make the handprints, which worked like a charm!

My 20-month-old daughter and I made three different designs using finger paint, sparkly foam balls, and a few other fun supplies, and you can download 5 beautiful templates to recreate these adorable creations at the bottom of this post.

Here’s What We Made

Reindeer with Hand Antlers

For this one, we used Lily’s hands as the reindeer’s antlers! I added a tiny bow to make it extra cute.

Christmas Tree with a Star Handprint

This handprint makes the perfect Christmas tree, with the fingers as branches. We decorated it with sparkly foam balls to look like ornaments!

Handprint Reindeer (with Fingers as Antlers)

This reindeer has tiny fingers for antlers, and we glued googly eyes and a little red nose on it.

I added a small bow to complete the look. Isn’t it the cutest thing?

Supplies You’ll Need

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Set up your station
Prepare a work surface and gather all your supplies. If you’re using a sponge, spread some paint onto it. You can also use a paintbrush to paint directly onto your child’s hand.

  1. Make the handprint
Help your little one press their hand onto the sponge, ensuring the paint is evenly spread. Then, gently press their hand onto the printable, just like a stamp! Repeat with other colors if needed.

  1. Add decorations
After the paint dries, decorate your creation with foam balls, googly eyes, ribbon bows, or anything you like! This is where you can really let your creativity shine.

  1. Display or gift
Once the craft is done, let it dry completely. These make perfect keepsakes or gifts for grandparents, teachers, or anyone who would love a handmade treasure from your child :).

How to Do Handprints Without Paint?

Not a fan of the mess? No worries!

Handprint Tracing
Trace your child’s hand onto colored paper and cut it out. Then glue the cutouts onto the printable.

You can layer the handprints in different colors for a cool effect, or decorate them with stickers, glitter, or markers.

Inkless Handprint Kits
These kits use special paper and an inkless system, so no ink gets on your child’s hand at all! Press the hand on the paper, and the print magically appears.

Then, you can decorate it with fun stickers, bows, or little foam shapes. You can find one here.
