Looking for a sweet way to cozy up your home this fall and make something meaningful with your little one? These fall crafts for kids are just the thing. I made them with my daughter Lily, and now they’re sprinkled all around our home—adding warmth, a little whimsy, and lots of love.

Each craft is simple, toddler-friendly, and turns tiny hands and fingerprints into art you’ll actually want to keep forever. Plus, they’re a fun way to sneak in some learning moments too—like exploring colors, practicing scissor skills, and even learning seasonal vocabulary.

Here are our favorite fall crafts and keepsakes to try with your own tiny artist:
Other keepsakes you may like
1. Pumpkin & Acorn Fingerprints
You’ll need:
- Acrylic paper
- Orange + brown paint
- A sponge
- Your toddler’s fingers
- Pencils
- Optional: picture frames
How to make it:
Pour a bit of paint onto a sponge—this helps avoid too much mess. Let your toddler dip a thumb or finger and press it on the paper. You can add your own fingerprint next to theirs to turn the dots into cute little pumpkins.
For acorns, use single brown prints and draw a tiny cap on top once dry. Add stems, little curly vines, and if you frame them… they look like real art! 🧡
@whatamomcreates Her tiny fingerprints + mine… now they’re pumpkins and acorns 🎃🍂 A little fall memory we’ll treasure forever. #toddlercrafts #motherdaughter #fallcrafts #kidscrafts #fingerprintart ♬ Cozy – Elgafar
2. Toadstool Footprint Keepsake
You’ll need:
- Acrylic paper
- Beige, red, and white paint
- A sponge
How to make it:
Paint the bottom of your toddler’s foot with beige and press it onto the paper. Then paint their little fist red and stamp it above the footprint. Add white dots to the red “cap” and you’ve got the most adorable little toadstool 🍄.
@whatamomcreates We turned Lily’s little footprint into the cutest toadstool 🍄 Such a sweet keepsake to treasure or to give as a gift 🥹 #fallcrafts #toddlercrafts #diygift #creativekids #diyforkids ♬ Isn't She Lovely – Larissa Félix
3. Pinecone Owls
You’ll need:
- Pinecones
- Cotton balls
- Glue
- Googly eyes
- Colored felt
- Pipe cleaners
How to make it:
Let your toddler squeeze glue into the pinecone gaps, then tuck in bits of cotton for “feathers.” Cut an owl face from felt, stick on some googly eyes, and add pipe cleaner feet. Wonky eyes? One upside-down? Honestly, that just makes them cuter.
@whatamomcreates I crafted with my 2.5-year-old and let go of all my “do it this way” urges 😅 Normally I catch myself steering her a bit while crafting… But this time? I let her take the lead. She made her own choices, placed everything herself — and honestly? Her little creation is SO precious 🥹 I’ll be keeping it forever 💛 Quick how-to (because it’s not super clear in the video 😅): – Find some pinecones – Fill the gaps with glue – Stick in pulled-apart cotton balls – Add a face and wings using felt – Finish with some googly eyes 👀 That’s it! Lily’s now happily pretend playing with her little pinecone owl 🦉💛 #creativeplay #fallcrafts #toddlercrafts #momdaughter #kidscrafts ♬ Dancing in the Moonlight – Piano Peace
4. Fall Tree Handprint + Scissor Skills
You’ll need:
- Cardboard
- Pen
- Brown marker or paint
- Crepe paper in fall colors
- Toddler-safe scissors
- Glue
How to make it:
Trace your toddler’s arm and hand on cardboard to form the tree trunk and branches. Then let them cut little crepe paper bits and glue them all around the “branches” like leaves. Great for fine motor skills—and it looks so sweet when finished! 🌳
@whatamomcreates ✂️ These fall leaves got a little trim!🍁 Practicing fine motor skills doesn’t have to be boring.. this cut & glue fall tree was so much fun to make with Lily! 🤎🍁 (We traced her arm for the trunk and cut crepe paper for the leaves!) Cutting the leaves helps with: ✔️ Scissor control ✔️ Hand strength ✔️ Focus & coordination Save this for your next cozy craft day! ✨ #toddlerlearning #finemotorskills #fallcrafts #cuttingskills #toddlercrafts ♬ Sunny Side of the Stream – Alan Gogoll
5. Spooky Handprints
You’ll need:
- White paint
- Googly eyes
- Ribbon or bow stickers
- Black pen or marker
How to make it:
Paint your child’s hand white and stamp it onto paper. Flip the paper upside-down and turn the handprint into a ghost with googly eyes, a ribbon, and a little smile. Add spiders or webs for extra spooky fun 👻.
@whatamomcreates Ohhh I’m so happy we finally get to start on fall crafts!! 🍁 My favorite season of the year! And this little ghost handprint card was the cutest way to kick it off 👻 We turned Lily’s handprint into a tiny keepsake you can gift or save forever (because those little hands don’t stay little 🥹) First of many cozy crafts coming your way! #handprintcrafts #toddlercrafts #fallcrafts #halloweencrafts #keepsake ♬ Spooky Ooky – NotYeti
6. Fall Leaf Handprint Wreath (Our Favorite!)
You’ll need:
- Acrylic paper
- Mixed fall paints (we blended our own from basic colors!)
- Cardboard
- Ribbon
- Black pen
How to make it:
Layer a few fall colors onto your toddler’s hand and stamp it several times across the paper. Once dry, draw simple leaf outlines with a black pen and cut them out. Glue them onto a cardboard ring and tie a ribbon at the top.
@whatamomcreates From messy little hands to cozy fall decor 🖐️🍂 Who else loves keepsake crafts? I was so impressed with how the colors of the leaf handprints turned out 🤎 We just mixed the primary colors: blue, green, red, white, black and yellow into beautiful fall shades and stamped them with Lily’s little hand. Every time she saw her colorful handprint, she was so amazed 🙂🍁 #fallcrafts #handprintart #diyfalldecor #toddlercrafts #crafttok ♬ Dreams (2004 Remaster) – Fleetwood Mac
