Colorful Flower Bouquet Craft – Perfect for a Handmade Gift

I like this paper flower bouquet craft so much!

It’s made almost entirely out of paper—no glue mess, no paint spills, nothing wild. Just some folding, cutting, and sticking. Which makes it feel extra calm and mess-free. Big win.

I especially like it as a sweet little gift.

Perfect for Mother’s Day, springtime, summer days, or just because someone deserves a cheerful surprise.

It’s simple, it’s colorful, and it totally brightens up a room. Let’s make it!

What You’ll Need

  • Green paper (for the stems)
  • Colored paper (for the flowers)
  • Yellow paper (for the flower centers)
  • A small white paper cup
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Double-sided tape or glue
  • Twine or ribbon (optional but super cute)
  • A little paper tag (optional – I made a heart!)

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Make the green stems

Start by folding a piece of green paper in half lengthwise.

Leave about ½ inch (1 cm) free at the open edge—this will keep your fringe connected at the bottom.

Then, using a pencil and a ruler, draw vertical lines about ½ inch apart, starting from the folded edge and stopping at the line you just made.

Cut along each of those lines to create a kind of fringe. Don’t go all the way through—leave that bottom part intact.

When you’re done cutting, roll the whole piece up nice and snug so that the fringe flares outward like a bunch of stems. Tape the end down to hold everything together.

2. Cut out the flowers

Grab some bright colored paper and cut small squares—about 2 x 2 inches (or 5 x 5 cm).

Take one square and fold it diagonally in half, then in half again, and one more time.

You’ll end up with a small triangle.

Use a pencil to draw a curved line on the outer edge—like a rainbow shape. This will form your petals.

Cut along that line, then carefully unfold… and hello little flower!

Repeat with different colors for a cute mix. Imperfect ones are the most charming.

3. Add the yellow centers

Cut out tiny yellow circles—about the size of a penny or smaller.

Glue or tape one into the center of each flower.

These little pops of yellow totally bring the flowers to life.

4. Attach the flowers to the stems

Stick each flower to the top of a green “stem” using a small piece of tape or a dab of glue.

You can space them out however you like—some high, some low, a little wild-looking. Go for that fresh-picked look!

5. Make the vase

Place the rolled stem bundle inside a small white paper cup.
I actually cut off the bottom of the cup and used that as the top of my vase—it gives it a nice, open look and helps the flowers sit just right.

Want to make the cup extra adorable? Wrap a bit of twine or ribbon around it, and tie on a little tag. I used a heart-shaped cutout.

Add a name, a sweet note, or just a tiny “xo”—it’s those little touches that make it gift-worthy.

Why I Love This Craft

  • It’s mess-free – Almost no cleanup. No glitter stuck to your elbow four hours later.
  • It’s easy – Scissors, paper, tape. That’s it.
  • It’s relaxing – The folding and cutting is super soothing.
  • It makes people smile – Seriously, give one of these to someone and just watch.
  • It lasts – Unlike real flowers, this little bouquet stays cute forever.

It’s the kind of craft that feels low-effort, but still looks super sweet when it’s done.

Perfect for when you want to make something with your hands, but don’t want your room to look like a tornado blew through.

Cute Variations to Try

  • Use painted paper – Let kids watercolor paper first, then turn it into flowers. Extra dreamy.
  • Add glitter or sequins – Just a little sparkle on the flower petals for a magical twist.
  • Go seasonal – Red and pink for Valentine’s, pastels for Easter, orange and yellow for summer, or even gold and white for winter.
  • Make mini ones – Use smaller paper squares and tiny paper cups (or egg cartons!) for a miniature version.

This craft is so easy, so sweet, and totally worth trying.

You only need a few supplies, it’s mess-free, and it’s the kind of thing that makes people feel special when they receive it.
